Old Flames. New Flavors.

4 Hands Dinner mit Michel Zscharschuch, The Knast & Yannick Fehren, 4Eck

4Eck is going to “The Knast”!

Wait—let us explain! In late September, our former head chef Michael Zscharschuch is returning to 4Eck for two special evenings. He helmed our kitchen until April 2025 before moving to Berlin, where he now shapes the culinary experience at “The Knast.” It is an extraordinary fine-dining restaurant housed in a former women’s prison—a venue soon to be joined by an even more remarkable hotel. Together with his successor at 4Eck, Yannick Fehren, he has created a six-course menu that blends past and present, Garmisch and Berlin, and old stomping grounds with new paths. “Old Flames, New Flavors.” Two chefs, two kitchens, two cities—and a shared story that continues in late November: that’s when we’ll swap roles, and the 4Eck team will travel to Berlin to cook at The Knast for two nights. So, 4Eck really is going to “The Knast”! But first, the cooking happens right here at 4Eck in Garmisch-Partenkirchen. Will you be joining us?

“We’re incredibly excited to be back in the kitchen with Michel. Andi worked with him for a long time, and I—Yannick—was there during the handover. The chemistry between the three of us was right from the very start. A lot has happened since then; we’ve all gained experience, developed new ideas, and pursued our own paths. That makes it all the more exciting to come together again—to inspire one another, create something new, and get both the pots and our creative minds bubbling. And, of course, we’ll probably have a whole lot of fun along the way, too ;)”

Yannick & Andi, 4Eck

Head Chef and Sous Chef, 4Eck Restaurant, Garmisch-Partenkirchen

“Berlin is fantastic, and I’m incredibly happy with my new role at THE KNAST—I couldn’t have wished for a better fresh start in the city. But when you drive down the autobahn toward Garmisch again and spot the mountains in the distance, breathe in that crisp air, and run into old friends while playing basketball at Kainzenbad, you do get a touch of homesickness. That makes it all the more special to return for a few days to my old stomping grounds and reconnect with familiar faces—people with whom I’ve shared such great times. I’m really excited to cook with Andi and Yannick again, see how we’ve all grown, and throw our ideas into the mix. Then it’s back to the big city—with wonderful memories of GaPa in tow and looking forward to their return visit in November.”
